BOARD APPROVES 2009-2010 BUDGET
The Springfield school board adopted the 2009-2010 operating budget Tuesday night. Included in the budget are a one-half  percent salary increase for employees and increases for eligible employees who are pursuing advanced degrees.

The approved budget, comprised of $192.3 million in revenue and $192.9 million in expenditures, evolved during a lengthy budget development process. Ultimately, expenditures of more than $6 million were cut in order to reduce deficit spending in 2009-2010. Read more...

ADAM MEADOR NAMED NEW BINGHAM PRINCIPAL
Adam Meador was named principal for Bingham Elementary School in the board's executive session Tuesday night.

Meador has been teaching since 2002 where he started his career in Branson as a fourth-grade teacher. In fall of 2005, he joined Springfield Public Schools and has taught both fourth and fifth grades at Holland Elementary School. Read more...

  • Academic achievement earned seven SPS schools a spot on state Top 10 lists for high performing schools. Named 18 times, SPS had the third largest number of schools recognized in the state. Read more...
