Springfield Public Schools announces administrative changes
May 30, 2007 The Board of Education for Springfield Public Schools approved the selection of three district administrators and an elementary school principal during an executive session on Tuesday, May 29. The following changes are effective July 1. Justin Herrell was named Executive Director for Associate Superintendent Dr. Peggy Riggs, who will oversee the district’s three K-8 schools, Wilson’s Creek 5-6 School, middle and high schools and multiple departments. Herrell has been principal at Hillcrest High School for three years. Before that he served three years as assistant principal at Parkview High School, one year as an administrative intern and taught four years at Central High School. Before that he taught and coached four years in several rural Missouri school districts. Herrell has a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education and a Masters and Specialist in Educational Administration all from Missouri State University. He completed his doctorate coursework in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis this spring. Les Ford was named Executive Director for Associate Superintendent Dr. Teresa White, who will oversee district elementary schools and multiple departments. Ford has been principal four years at Reed Middle School. Before that, he was a principal for six years at Willard and Pierce City public schools after teaching four years in Rogersville. Ford has a Bachelor of Science in Social Studies Education and a Masters in History from Missouri State University. He received his Specialist in Educational Administration from MSU this spring. Dr. Nate Quinn was named district Coordinator of Cultural Diversity and Expanded Learning Opportunities.Quinn has been Jarrett Middle School Principal for three years. In his previous 21 years with the district he was a teacher, coach and assistant principal at Hillcrest High School. Quinn has a Bachelor of Arts in Physical Education and Biology from Drury University, a Masters in Physical Education from Pittsburg State (Kan.), a Specialist in Educational Administration from Missouri State University and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis from the University of Missouri. Jennifer Webb was named Principal at Williams Elementary School. Webb has taught four years in the academic recovery program at Pershing K-8 School. Before that she taught three years at Bowerman and Pleasant View elementary schools. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Drury University and recently completed her Masters in Educational Leadership from Evangel University. The executive directors and coordinator of cultural diversity and expanded learning opportunities are among administrative changes that will occur with the June resignations of Associate Superintendent, Dr. Del Phillips; Student Support Services Director, Dr. Karen Scott and Cultural Diversity Coordinator, Rosalyn Thomas. The district will eliminate Phillips’ position and restructure the responsibilities of the remaining associate superintendents, Riggs and White. Replacements for the positions currently occupied by Herrell, Ford, Quinn and Webb will be named in the coming days.
