District wins third international budget award
June 29, 2007

For the third consecutive year, Springfield Public Schools received the Meritorious Budget Award by the Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO).

The award highlights the quality content of the district’s annual budget book and “reflects the district’s ongoing commitment to financial excellence,” said district Comptroller, Steve Chodes. He credits his staff for their hard work in continuing to create an award-winning budget book.

The Meritorious Budget Awards Program was designed by ASBO to recognize excellence in school system budgeting. The program is sponsored by ING, a global financial services company.

Winners of the Meritorious Budget Award receive a recognition plaque and certificate, letters of accomplishment sent to their superintendent and school board, and recognition of achievement in ASBO’s publication School Business Affairs.
