Springfield Public Schools names new principals
June 14, 2007
The Board of Education for Springfield Public Schools approved the selection of five new principals during an executive session on Tuesday, June, 12. The following changes are effective July 1.
Michelle Wilkerson was named principal at Bingham Elementary School. She has been with the district seven years, the first six as a teacher at Cowden elementary and Wilson’s Creek 5-6, and one year as assistant principal at Hickory Hills. Wilkerson has a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Missouri State University and a Masters in Educational Administration from William Woods University.
Marty Marsh was named principal at Jarrett Middle School. Marsh has been with the district 11 years. He taught his first five years at Glendale High School and was assistant principal at Kickapoo High School the past six years. Marsh has a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education, a Masters in Secondary Education and Physical Education and a Specialist in Educational Administration, all from Missouri State University.
Debbie Grega was named principal at Reed Middle School. Grega has been with the district 12 years. She taught 10 years at Parkview High School before spending the past two years as a Hillcrest High School assistant principal. Grega has a Bachelor of Science in Business from the University of Missouri, a Masters in Secondary Teaching from Drury University, a Specialist in Educational Administration from Saint Louis University and a doctorate in Educational Administration from Saint Louis University.
Jay Rush was named principal at Hillcrest High School. Rush has been with the district 15 years. He spent one year at the Springfield Options Site, five years as a Parkview High School special education teacher, five years as Pipkin Middle School assistant principal and four years as Study Middle School principal. Rush has a Bachelor of Science in Special Education, a Masters in Special Education and a Specialist in Educational Administration, all from Missouri State University.
Jim Harvey was named principal at Study Middle School. Harvey has been with the district 11 years, nine years as a math teacher at Pershing Middle School and two years as Study assistant principal. He has a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education, Health and Math from Evangel University and a Masters in Educational Administration from Missouri State University.
