Lynne Miller nominated as ‘Distinguished Principal’

Disney Elementary School Principal Dr. Lynne Miller has been nominated by her district peers as one of 13 “Distinguished Principals” in Missouri. She will be recognized, along with 13 other principals from across the state, at the “Distinguished Principals" Conference in March at Tan-Tar-A Resort in Osage Beach.
One of those 13 principals will be selected at the conference by the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP) as the “National Missouri Distinguished Principal.”
Miller is in her first year as Disney principal. She joined the district in 1984 as a physical education teacher and worked at Cherokee Middle School, and Cowden, Sunshine and Holland elementary schools before becoming assistant principal at Bissett/Williams elementary schools in 1998. She was Williams’ Elementary School Principal from 1999 through the end of last year.
In being nominated, Miller stood out for her strong problem-solving skills, a tireless work ethic and success in helping kids learn in a Title 1 school environment. She demonstrates superb organizational skills, professionalism and personal tact and was past president of the Springfield Association of Elementary School Principals.
To qualify as a “Distinguished Principal” nominees must complete five years as an active principal, be a member of the state and national associations of elementary principals, demonstrate strong leadership and be respected by students, colleagues and the community.
