EdMin Online Student Assessment

History

In 2005-2006, the District Assessment Committee recognized the need for SPS to improve the efficiency of testing, scoring, collecting, and analyzing student performance results. The following school year the District Accountability Committee identified improved access to student achievement data as a goal. That same year, 2006-2007, the District Technology Committee resolved that the district had a need for an online student assessment program. In 2007-2008, the Online Student Assessment Selection Committee was formed. Committee members from various district departments and roles evaluated top-of-the-line assessment programs. In February 2008, the district responded to stakeholder need and purchased the a package that included INFORM, Performance Series, and Achievement Series through EDMIN.

Performance Series

In the fall of 2008-2009, SPS began piloting Performance Series Assessments in grades 3-8, with the goal of all elementary and middle schools implementing Performance by the end of the year. Begining in 2009-2010, 3-8 grade students were assessed three times during the year, (beginning, middle, and end) in three subjects, (reading, language arts, math). High school students in grades 9 and 10 began assessment in the area of reading beginning in 2010-2011. Assessments are also available in the content area of science.
