Parkview supporters dig in for new construction
November 7, 2007
Chilly temperatures didn’t cool the spirits of Parkview High School students, staff and supporters during a 7:30 a.m. groundbreaking ceremony Nov. 7. Construction has begun on the second phase renovation at the 52-year-old school. The $10 million project will be complete in just over a year and will provide new interior finishes, new classrooms, an art classroom, special education classrooms, two new science labs and offices. A new library media center will accommodate more than twice the current space for computer training. A new cafeteria and kitchen will nearly double the current capacity and alleviate overcrowding.
Funding was made possible by voter approval of a $96.5 million bond initiative in 2006. The first phase of Parkview’s reconstruction, also a $10 million project, was completed in 2006 and funded by voter approval of a 2003 bond initiative. See details on current bond projects.
