September 28, 2007
For the second year in a row, Central High School’s “Central Intelligence” student-produced news broadcast was nominated by the Journalism Educators Association and the National Scholastic Press Association (JEA/NSPA) to receive a Pacemaker Award.
The Pacemaker is a national award for high school students who demonstrate excellence in student-produced journalism. Central High School is one of six finalists selected from throughout the United States.
Thirteen CHS students will travel to Philadelphia, Pa. Nov. 8-12 for the award ceremony during the JEA/NSPA Fall National High School Journalism Convention.
"Being recognized for this prestigious award for the second year in a row is a huge honor,” said Nichole Lemmon, Central broadcast journalism advisor. “My students work very hard throughout the year to create this bi-weekly news program. Seeing their efforts pay off is very rewarding."
