AIMS is designed to address the academic and social needs of grades 6-8. The program serves 40 students.
Program goals are to build self-esteem, work to improve social skills, and improve academic performance through a variety of instructional strategies. Though AIMS provides a behavioral management system, the program is not designed for students with severe behavioral needs. The program offers a safety net for students who struggle academically with persistence to graduation.
Students are received into the program through administrative referral based on deficits in reading and math. Students are encouraged to stay in the program until their skill level allows them to successfully transition back to their home school. Progress is determined by quarterly reading and math performance tests.
Transportation is provided.
