School board to adopt paperless system

August 5, 2008

Springfield school board members agreed Tuesday night to move forward with transitioning to a paperless meeting management system. Adopting this approach will reduce costs and time required to assemble, print and distribute board meeting materials. Administrative staff will develop a timeline for training and implementation of the system which could occur as early as October.

Dr. Nate Quinn, coordinator of cultural diversity, presented a report to the board on the African-American Achievement Task Force, originally formed in 2004 to increase the academic achievement of African-American students. The task force created action plans to address topics such as professional development, mentoring/relationships and involvement in early childhood and expanded learning opportunities.

In other business, the board approved a change order in the amount of $123,448 to construct a parking lot at Parkview High School as part of the renovations funded by the 2006 bond initiative.
