School board considers plan for Reed Academy

SCHOOL BOARD CONSIDERS PLAN FOR REED ACADEMY
Reed Middle School staff presented a plan to the Springfield school board Sept. 1 to create an academy which will increase academic rigor at its school. Reed Academy would encourage students to take more advanced courses, possibly even earning high-school credit. This would lay a foundation for students to take more Advanced Placement courses when they reach high school. Reed is currently in School Improvement Level 4 and this plan would satisfy state requirements to make changes in order to meet Adequate Yearly Progress in the future.
