Springfield eye surgeon Dr. Thomas Prater was sworn in April 15 as the newest member of the district Board of Education. Prater earned a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas and his Medical Degree from Washington University in St Louis. He is a surgeon at Mattax-Neu-Prater Eye Center in Springfield and has been in practice since 1987.
Prater is a Springfield native; he graduated from Glendale High School and is past president of the Foundation for Springfield Public Schools and a board member of Community Foundation of the Ozarks. His current term expires in 2011.
