District Goals

About the Board

Qualifications for Board members are that they be a resident of the school district who has resided within the state for one year at the time of election or appointment and be at least 24 years of age. The term of a member is three years.  The Board has full legislative authority and control of the district as provided for in state law.

The Springfield R-12 Board of Education meets twice a month at 5:30 p.m. at Kraft Administrative Center, 940 N. Jefferson Ave.

All meetings are recorded live in digital format and posted on the district Web site the day after the meeting. Click here to watch meetings now. Recordings of meetings are also available on DVD for check out through the Springfield-Greene County Library.

Agendas are available prior to board meetings through BoardDocs. The agenda for the upcoming meeting is accessible on Saturday before the Tuesday meeting. Click on "Enter public site" to view the agenda.

Community members are welcome to comment on board items at each meeting. However, requests to speak should be submitted prior to the beginning of the meeting. Forms are available at the door. Comments are limited to five minutes.

Awards and Achievements

Custom Energy Services, a ConEdison Solutions energy services company, Feb. 3, 2009, presented the Springfield Public Schools Board of Education with an award for leadership in energy efficiency and energy-related cost savings.  The energy initiative will save taxpayers more than $300,000 annually and reduce electricity consumption use by 19 percent.

Springfield Public Schools' success with this program will be featured at the Ozarks New Energy Conference: Solutions for Energy Independence April 30-May 1 at MSU.
