Classroom Teacher: Mrs. Miller

My name is Taryn Miller and I am thrilled to be a part of the new Harrison Huskies!
I am a product of Springfield Public Schools graduating from Kickapoo High School. After getting married, putting my husband through college and having 3 children, I went to SMSU (now MSU) and received my teaching degree in 1999. I am certified to teach grades 1 – 6 and also K-12 special education. I received my Masters degree in Elementary Education from SBU in 2007. I have taught my entire career at Watkins Elementary including 2 years in special education, 7 years in 3rd grade and currently teaching 1st grade. I have been trained in the Comprehensive Literacy Model and have been a lab teacher for several years.
My husband Steve owns his own business here in Springfield. Our family has been expanding with 2 of our 3 children married and our youngest planning a wedding for this August. Our first grandchild, Isaac, was born this October and we love seeing him as often as possible! We are very active in our church, love watching Chiefs football and enjoy spending time on our boat at Stockton Lake.
I am so excited to embark on a new adventure in my teaching career. I consider teaching to be a team effort between parents, teachers and the student. I feel fortunate to have a part on this team helping students to grow, learn, and become the best they can be!
