Human Resource Team

Service with a smile is the underlying theme in the Department of Human Resources.  The Human Resource team is committed to creating an atmosphere within the District that will allow all employees to feel a genuine sense of accomplishment.  Attracting and retaining the best employees are two of the most important goals for the Human Resources Team.

Danny Fuller

Danny Fuller assists in the selection process of teachers and district administrators.  He is responsible for the staff evaluation process, disciplinary action, and policies within HR.  The Human Resources Department is directly responsible for all personnel functions.

Kristin Freitag

Kristin Freitag serves as an administrative secretary in the HR office.  She assists Danny Fuller with matters regarding Springfield Public Schools. She handles teacher of the month, teacher of the year and the Retirement Dinner.  She is responsible for preparing the District Telephone Station List and Personnel Directory.

Parker McKenna

Parker McKenna coordinates efforts between the Human Resources and Benefits Departments in order to provide quality service to District employees.  He participates in benefit program design and restructuring and coordinates services with third party administrators and service providers.  Parker works with the District’s principals and other supervisors to ensure quality work environments and consistent application of District policy.  He also performs various other functions as they relate to the District’s Human Resources.

Deanna Hawkins serves as an Analyst.  She assists Danny Fuller in matters relating to the staffing processes of the Springfield Public Schools. She operates the database for all certificated applications and is responsible for the paperwork related to the certificated staff. Her other duties include retirement counseling, preparation of Board materials and preparation of evaluation schedules.

Marsha Bishop serves as an Analyst.  She processes and maintains postings, applications, evaluations, board materials and payroll records for support staff.  In addition she handles certificates, contracts and payroll records for certificated personnel. Marsha also processes unemployment claims.

Stephanie Dalan

Stephanie Dalan serves as an Analyst.   She processes and maintains postings, applications, evaluations and payroll records for Custodial,  Food Services, Health Services, Information Technology, Librarians, Maintenance,  School Police, Supply and Transportation.   Stephanie also takes care of setting up new employee orientations as well as conducts the HR portion of the orientations.

Kim Surratt is the Senior Benefits Representative.  She provides customer services to employees in issues relating to the health plan, dental, life and long-term disability insurance, wealth management, and voluntary benefits.  Kim processes enrollments and changes as they relate to the District’s benefit plans.

Tracy Slagle provides customer service to District employees in issues related to family and medical leave, absence management, life and long-term disability insurances.  She also provides information related to the health plan, dental and voluntary benefits coverages.

Debbie Franklin serves as a receptionist in the HR/Benefit office.  She processes employment verifications, address and name changes.  Debbie also assists the Benefits Office with special projects including open enrollment, service request, and providing benefit information to district employees.

Aishwerya Narayan

Aishwerya is a graduate student at Missouri State University, studying to attain her Master's Degree in Business Administration. Aishwerya's primary responsibility within the department is to further her understanding and knowledge of Human Resources as a profession. Aishwerya also gathers data relative to the District's key Human Resource metrics. She analyzes this data and provides it to the department to be used for process validation and improvement.

Laura is a graduate student at Missouri State University, studying to attain her Master's Degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology. Laura's primary responsibility within the department is to further her understanding and knowledge of Human Resources as a profession. Laura assists in the facilitation of the District's pre-employment processes including background checks and orientation. She also works with the department on special projects.
