Episode 1 - Registration and enrollment with Les Ford, Executive Director - Middle School
Les Ford covered all the information parents need to get their kids enrolled in school, whether they're heading to kindergarten or transferring. He also talked about sixth grade orientation and what parents can expect for first time middle school students. Listen to the podcast.
Episode 2 - Immunization and student health with Jean Grabeel, Coordinator of Health Services
Jean talked about the required immunizations students need as well as where and when they can get their immunizations. On top of that, she explained the steps parents need to take if their child has a medical concern such as diabetes or asthma and the process for students that need to take medications during the school day. Episode 3 - Kindergarten Screenings with Missy Riley, Early Childhood/PAT Director
In this episode, Missy Riley discussed kindergarten screenings, how to get a screening for your child and the process for registering students for kindergarten. She also shared some advice for parents about how to make the first day of school and the transition to kindergarten as smooth as possible for parents.
Episode 4 - Family Voices and early childhood literacy
The Family Voices project is community partnership to support families and others to read to children. Missy Riley, SPS Director of Early Childhood and Parents As Teachers, shared more information about the project on this podcast, including how families can get involved. Missy also discussed the importance of reading to young children and easy ways that families can share the benefits of reading and learning.
