Revised policies regarding school closings and the school calendar were presented to the board at its September study session. The revised policies reflect current district practices. The board will vote on those policies at its September regular meeting scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 21. Administration presented a revised policy regarding local and minority bidding in the areas of architectural/engineering selection and construction to the board for a second reading. The board will also vote on that policy at the September regular meeting. The board also discussed a proposed policy about volunteers in schools. In response to input from the board, some revisions will be made to the policy and presented to the board in October. The board ended the meeting with an update from President Gerry Lee about the Missouri Education Vision Project. This collaboration between the Missouri School Boards Association and the Missouri Association of School Administrators will ultimately outline clear priorities for the state’s public education system. The group will share the results of the process at the MSBA/MASA Fall Conference in October 2011. Read the September study session agenda and associated documents online.
