Board reviews major instructional goals

November 03, 2010

The Springfield school board recognized Wilder Elementary School physical education teacher Dianna Duncan-Atnip, who was named Missouri Physical Education Teacher of the Year, at its November study session. Kickapoo High School was also recognized for receiving high marks in its recent accreditation by AdvancED and North Central Association Commission.

Also on the agenda were major instructional goals for three curriculum areas: grades 6-12 science; health, physical education and driver education; and Project Lead the Way. The board will vote on these MIGs at its November regular session, scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 16.

The board also reviewed a revision to policy FF, dealing with the naming of new and existing facilities. If approved, the new policy would allow the district to consider naming facilities for organizations or corporate entities that make significant contributions to the district, in addition to families or individuals as currently stipulated in the policy.

A complete agenda and all associated documents can be found here.
