CHS and HHS participate in national Save a Life Tour
February 09, 2012
Students at Central and Hillcrest high schools will hear strong words of caution as they participate in the national Save a Life Tour Feb. 14 and Feb. 15, respectively.
The national Save a Life Tour is an interactive distractive driving awareness program that teaches teens about the hazards of texting and driving. The program is being sponsored by the Springfield Council of PTAs. The event will feature actual video footage and guest speakers who will share personal stories and national statistics. Juniors and seniors will also have the opportunity to drive and text in a simulator that shows them the challenges and dangers of texting and driving.
"One if the primary objectives of the Springfield Council of PTAs is to help organize activities that benefit our students," said Dawn Thompson, Springfield Council of PTAs president. "The impact of this tour will remain with the students for a long time."
The Save a Life Tour will begin at Central High School, 423 E. Central, at 8:15 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 14 and at Hillcrest High School, 3319 N. Grant, at 8:10 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 15.
