Applications are now being accepted for the WOLF program

February 16, 2012

Applications for the WOLF program for the 2012-2013 school year are being accepted from current fourth grade students who live within the Springfield Public School District attendance area.

WOLF, Wonders of the Ozarks Learning Facility, is an innovative school for fifth-graders in partnership with Bass Pro and Wonders of Wildlife.  Students receive an inquiry-based learning experience allowing them to explore a comprehensive curriculum through the context of nature and conservation.  A substantial portion of their instructional time occurs outside of the classroom with students participating in various field experiences.  WOLF students are held to the same academic performance and rigor expectations as other fifth grade students.

An informational meeting about the WOLF Program for interested fourth grade students and their parents will be held March 1, 6 p.m., in the auditorium at Parkview High School.  PHS is located at 516 W. Meadowmere.

To be considered for the WOLF program a student must have satisfactory behavior, at least 95% attendance for third and fourth grades and submit an application along with copies of the student’s third and fourth grade report cards before 5 p.m., March 16

Eligible students will be selected for the program through a random drawing.  The program accepts 23 boys and 23 girls annually.

Students selected into the program attend school each day at the WOLF facility instead of at their home school and must provide their own transportation.

The WOLF program is located at 600 W. Sunshine in the John A. and Genny Morris Conservation Education Center.
