Welcome from the Principal
Dear JJP Elementary Students and Families,
Welcome to John J. Pershing Elementary School. Pershing has established a reputation for academic excellence. We are thrilled you will be a part of our team. This school year promises to be an exciting one as we focus on our mission to increase student achievement in a caring environment while emphasizing communication arts and mathematics. We want students and teachers to be engaged and enthusiastic about learning.
The JJP Elementary staff is committed to academic excellence and will implement a variety of instructional strategies to meet the needs of our students. We will insure that the climate of our school is conducive to learning while providing a safe, positive, and caring environment where all students feel a sense of belonging. It is our intent to promote student responsibility and self-discipline by modeling expected behaviors and by implementing positive behavioral supports for students.
Students in the Springfield Public School system have access to a rigorous, age-appropriate curriculum in all subject areas. The teachers at our school will implement this Board approved curriculum and we invite parents to be an integral part of our team.
I am looking forward to your involvement in your child’s education at Pershing. One of the best ways to become involved is by joining our PTA. Memberships will be available this fall. Your involvement in our PTA is very important as they support our elementary school students. The Pershing staff is committed to working with you as we believe the educational process is a partnership between the home and the school. We count on you to support our many, many activities throughout the school year.
I am here to serve you and your children. If you have any questions or need assistance with a school matter you may email me (ncauldwell@spsmail.org), call me (523-2400) or stop by my office. It is a tremendous honor and privilege to be the principal at Pershing. I look forward to working with you this school year.
Respectfully,
Dr. Natalie Cauldwell
