E-Corps Team Policy

E-Corps team teachers believe in promoting personal responsibility.  Our objectives are to provide the best learning opportunities for your child and to promote success.  The following policies have been adopted by the E-Corps team to help us accomplish our objectives.

Homework

Homework will be assigned daily in core classes.  Students are expected to have their assignments written in their planner.  Students are expected to have homework completed and turned in on time.  Each day, students should go over their notes and review any work completed in class, so they will be prepared for the next class.  Failure to complete homework will have an adverse affect on grades.  Zeros will be recorded for missing work.  Asking your child to share what they are learning or to share their assignments with you is a great way to get involved in their education and to help them review.

Late Work and our Zero Policy

Deadlines are a part of life, and E-Corps teachers believe it is in the best interest of our students to promote personal responsibility.   Students are expected to turn in all assignments on the day they are due.  Homework is intended to be a reinforcement of the concepts being taught in class and for preparation for the next class.  Not turning in an assignment or turning in work that is not completed satisfactorily is unacceptable.  Therefore the E-Corps teachers have adopted a Zero Policy for missing assignments and for work not completed satisfactorily.

Zeros will be given for all missing assignments and for work not completed satisfactorily.  The student will be given a detention in order for them to complete the assignment that school day.  The assignment must be turned in the following school day, even if the student serves the detention on another day.  Students who do not turn the assignment on the following day will have a permanent grade of “Zero”.

Work assigned during an absence is not considered late work and will be dealt with on an individual basis (See Make-up Work Policy).

Make-up Work

Students are responsible for obtaining and completing make-up work.  We will not attempt to find students who have been absent to give them their assignments.  Students must check with team teachers before school or after school the day they return from an unplanned absence to receive assignments.  Students who know in advance they will miss class must pick up their assignments for the missed day prior to their absence.  This would include field trips, appointments, vacations, and WINGS.   WINGS students should pick up their assignments on Monday.  When tests or projects have been announced when a student was present, students must take the test or submit the project on time with their class.  Being absent the day before or the day of a test will not excuse the student from taking the test or submitting the project on time.

Attendance / Tardy Policy

Students are expected to be in class and on time to each class.  Some class assignments and activities cannot be recreated and student learning is lost for those who are not present.   E-Corps teachers will strictly enforce the Pershing tardy policy.

Materials

It is expected that students will have the necessary materials in class each day.  Students are expected to bring textbook, paper, pencils, grading pencils or pens, homework, planner, and a reading book to class each day.  Students will not be permitted to go to their locker to retrieve materials.  Failure to bring required materials to class will have a direct impact on grades, as students will be unable to complete assignments.   After school detention may be assigned for failure to bring materials to class.

Discipline

All students have the right to learn and the responsibility to promote a positive learning environment.  E-Corps teachers expect all students to behave in a manner that promotes a positive learning environment for all students.  Behavior that disrupts the learning process will not be tolerated and will result in a referral to the main office or documentation in the Five Star Generals Discipline Policy.  When possible, parents will be contacted and asked to help promote the positive learning environment; however, some behaviors will result in immediate removal from the classroom and referrals to the office.
