What is Counseling?

Counseling is a developmental process, in which one individual (the counselor) provides to another individual or group (the student), guidance and encouragement, challenge and inspiration in creatively managing and resolving practical, personal and relationship issues, in achieving goals, and in self-realization.

Counseling is a process that enables a person to sort out issues and reach decisions affecting their life. Often counseling is sought out at times of change or crisis, it need not be so, however, as counseling can also help us at any time of our lives.

Counseling involves talking with a person in a way that helps that person solve a problem or helps to create conditions that will cause the person to understand and/or improve his/her behavior, character, values or life circumstances.

 Why Teach Character?

Character education is the deliberate effort to develop good character based on core virtues that are good for the individual and for society.

In the absence of virtues, no society can function effectively and no individual can hope to live happily. Not to teach good character based on these core virtues would be a grave moral failure for any society.
