I have known since I was very young that education was the field for me. I love working with children. I began running a kid’s camp at the age of 10 with a friend in my neighborhood. . I worked as a nanny, a Montessori classroom aide, a preschool teacher and classroom teacher at several daycare centers. I was also a director for Prime Time while finishing my degree in early childhood and elementary education at SMSU. I graduated in 1998. I moved ahead to receive my Master’s degree in curriculum and instruction in 2005. I taught as a long term substitute in Flower Mound, Texas for one year after college. This is my tenth year at Portland. I have taught fifth, fourth, third, and second grades. I have lived in 5 states across the Midwest (Wisconsin, Michigan, Kansas, Missouri and Texas). My family is spread across the U.S. I have two adorable nephews, Tyler and Colton, that live in California with my little sister, Kelly and her husband. I have another adorable nephew, Alex that lives with my older brother, Kevin and his wife in St. Louis. My parents are retired and live in Texas. I have no family in Springfield, but have wonderful friends and a family right here at Portland.
I love to learn, and strive to spread that love of learning to all of my students. I have lived in Springfield longer than any other place. I call it home and consider myself blessed to be part of the Portland community.
Remember.....TOGETHER we CAN make a difference!
