Mission Statement: The mission of Carver Middle School is to create a learning environment that results in academic and social excellence.
School Profile:
- Carver Middle School, named after prominent Missouri scientist George Washington Carver, opened in 1994. Carver is located in rapidly growing southwest Springfield. The building was designed specifically as a middle school, with three separate wings to accommodate grades 6-8. Our 104,000-square-foot building sits on a beautiful 36-acre campus along South Creek.
- Carver Middle School receives students from four elementary schools and has a proud tradition of academic and athletic performance. With enrollment of 684 students, Carver utilizes a staff of interdisciplinary teaching teams to deliver a comprehensive curriculum that includes all the core classes and related arts.
- Added to this curriculum are extracurricular activities, intramurals, clubs and other programs which enhance the academic experience of students. The Carver faculty strives to provide an excellent learning environment for all students. Achievements are reflected in the many awards and honors received each year.
- Carver is particularly proud of being recognized as middle school champion of the 1999-2000 Sky High Reading Program, an Accomplished School by the district in 2002, and as an Outstanding School in 2003, 2004 and 2005. (The district accountability program ended in 2006.)
- Carver’s Missouri Assessment Program test scores have been extremely competitive in the state. Carver was one of only 15 Missouri secondary schools (and one of only two state middle schools) named a Gold Star School in 2008 by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. In 2007 and 2008, Carver was recognized as a Top 10 state MAP school based on its seventh-grade communications arts score. Carver was named a Missouri most improved school in 2003.
