School Profile:
- With enrollment of about 644 students, Cherokee has consistently been named to Missouri Top 10 lists for highest performing schools. For 2008 Cherokee students performed at the top 10 level of large schools in the state in the math and communication arts content areas.
- On a February 2008 student survey, 100 percent of students surveyed strongly agreed or agreed with the statements “Cherokee is a safe place to learn,” and “My teachers offer me help when I need it.”
- Cherokee students are consistently strong in extracurricular activities such as football, basketball, cheerleading, volleyball, music, band, orchestra, soccer and track.
- Cherokee is undergoing a $15-million renovation (including air conditioning) that should be complete during the 2009-2010 school year.
- Our community has shown outstanding support for our character education initiative with volunteers teaching lessons to students each month during the year.
