How to enroll your student at SPS
Enroll in a District School
- Use the schools location map to determine the school attendance area in which you live.

- If you are unable to determine which school your child will attend, call (417) 523-0011. A records department staff member will confirm the elementary, middle, or high school attendance area in which you live.
- Visit the school your child will attend to complete the necessary enrollment forms. Several of them must be notarized by the school secretary. Enrollment takes about 30 minutes per student.
- When you enroll, bring the following items:
- Your child's birth certificate
- Immunization records
- Social Security number
- Proof you live in your attendance area (a utility bill, lease, or something similar)
- To assist in requesting your child's school records, please provide the name and address of the school your child previously attended.
Transferring to Another School
Springfield Public Schools allows students to transfer from their home school to another school within the district under certain circumstances. Approval of transfer requests is based upon building capacity, maintaining appropriate class sizes/student-teacher ratio and compliance with transfer guidelines. If a transfer is approved, parents accept responsibility for providing transportation for the student to and from school.
Transfers may be revoked at any time if a student violates district or school rules, exhibits poor attendance, or if class size or building capacity status changes.
Transfer request forms may be obtained from the school office. For more information, call 523-0069.
- Age requirement: your child must be 5 years old before August 1 to enroll in kindergarten.
- Early registration usually occurs in March. The school your child will be attending can tell you the exact day and time.
- Another registration period occurs in August, a few weeks prior to school beginning.
- When you register your child, bring the following items:
- Your child's birth certificate
- Immunization records
- Social Security number
- Proof you live in your attendance area (a utility bill, lease, or something similar)
