School Profile:
- Jarrett Middle School, named after prominent Springfield School Board Member J.H. Jarrett, opened in 1921. Jarrett is located in the heart of Springfield and serves as a neighborhood school where students, parents and teachers know one another by name. With an enrollment of 545 students, Jarrett Middle School has long served the needs of a diverse student population and prides itself in creating an awareness of differing cultures, lifestyles, and community affairs.
- Jarrett has a unique architectural design and a storied history of family involvement as several generations of family members have attended Jarrett.
- Jarrett Middle School receives students from six elementary schools and has an average student-teacher ratio of 19 to 1. Small class sizes, coupled with an interdisciplinary team teaching approach, affords Jarrett teachers the opportunity to provide individual attention to student learners as they deliver a comprehensive core curriculum.
- In 2008, 97.5 percent of classes were taught by highly qualified teachers. Jarrett staff averages 12.3 years of professional service and more than 46.7 percent of our professional staff has one or more advanced degrees.
- Jarrett is on the cutting edge of educational standards and is committed to continuous quality improvement. The Jarrett faculty strives to provide an excellent learning environment for all students as exemplified by the wide array of achievements, awards, and honors received each year.
- Jarrett is the district’s primary middle school for hearing-impaired students.
- Jarrett has a proud tradition in extracurricular activities such as football, basketball, cheerleading, volleyball, choir, band, orchestra and track. Jarrett also offers an array of clubs and organizations including National Junior Honor Society, student council, pep club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and drama.
- Jarrett’s Partners in Education include Community Blood Center of the Ozarks, US Bank, and individual community members.
