School Profile:
- We are a neighborhood school in west-central Springfield where students, parents and teachers know one another by name. With an enrollment of 347 our school makes students feel safe and supported.
- McGregor has a diverse student population. McGregor has students from around the world representing more than 20 different languages. The school leads the district in offering programs in English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL).
- Originally built in the early 1900s, McGregor was rebuilt with support of a district bond initiative approved by voters in 2000. The new school opened in 2003. Staff, parents, community members and students are proud of our facility.
- McGregor is a Title I school that offers many resources for students. We house one of the district's Wonder Years classrooms, a preschool program for 4 year olds. We have a full-time literacy coach, math coach, and three reading specialists who work with students.
- We offer eMINTS in one fourth- and one fifth-grade classroom; eMINTS incorporates technology into instruction. Students pair up on computers for their daily work. Teachers use computers, digital projectors, document cameras and SMART Boards for instruction.
- McGregor partners with the Boys & Girls Club and the Springfield-Greene County Park Board to offer after-school programs for students.
- McGregor implements a positive schoolwide behavioral program called HABIT, which stands for Homework, Attitude, Behavior, Initiative and Traveling. Students are rewarded in each area based on their actions. Students work toward HABIT rewards and strive to do their best.
