Springfield, Missouri
Springfield, Missouri is located in Greene County and is a community of more than 150,000 people. The surrounding area includes Greene, Webster, Polk, and Dallas counties, which together have a population of more than 420,000 people.
Here, we can boast about great schools, a thriving job market, superior health care, a revitalized downtown, an active arts community, a moderate climate where we enjoy all four seasons, wonderful outdoor recreation opportunities, beautiful neighborhoods, and warm, friendly citizens.
Medical and health care companies are the major employers in Springfield, providing roughly 30,000 jobs. Springfield is a regional medical hub which offers the latest medical technology and world class physicians. Primary employers in Springfield include St John’s Health, Cox Health, Wal-Mart Stores, Springfield Public Schools and Missouri State University.

Outdoor Recreation
Springfield is in southwest Missouri and is considered to be the heart of the Ozarks. The captivating beauty of the Ozarks provide some of the area's greatest pleasures. Abundant forests, rivers, lakes, trails, rolling hills, and beautiful foliage offer endless opportunities for fishing, boating, camping, walking, biking, floating, and other recreational activities. 
Ozark Greenways, a citizen’s organization, develops trails for walking and biking in Springfield and the surrounding area. The Springfield-Greene County Park Board offers many recreational and outdoor activities. They have ninety facilities with about 3,000 acres, including botanical gardens, Japanese stroll garden, dog park and equestrian center.
Also within a short drive are Wilson’s Creek National Battlefield, a historic Civil War site, Table Rock State Park, where boating, camping, and fishing opportunities abound, and the Mark Twain National Forest, which encompasses about 1.5 million acres, mostly within the Ozark Highlands.
Children's Activities
The Discovery Center of Springfield is a local children’s hands-on museum. The Dickerson Park Zoo offers opportunities for for all ages to appreciate and respect animals and nature. The Wonders of Wildlife Museum also educates and informs visitors about the value of fish and wildlife and conservation of our outdoor resources. They offer many educational opportunities to explore, encounter and experience the wildlife of southwest Missouri.
The Arts
Our Springfield Regional Arts Council actively supports our arts organizations and art education. Patrons have a wide variety of genres to choose from including museums, plays, dance productions, symphony, and a regional opera. Several small and large theatres accommodate live performances including concerts, dance, musicians, comedians, and professional productions. Aspiring actors, musicians and dancers have a variety of opportunities to participate in local shows.
The Arts Council is instrumental in the Downtown Art Walk on the first Friday of every month, an annual ArtsFest fine arts festival each spring, and Cider Days festival in September.
Sports

Springfield has a new, state of the art, baseball stadium that houses a double A professional baseball team, and is also home field to our local Missouri State University Bears. We have a WTT professional tennis team. Our area universities and colleges also have excellent sporting facilities where you can enjoy competitive basketball, football, tennis and other sports. There are thirteen golf courses in the Springfield area. Five of the courses are private clubs.
The Springfield-Greene County Park Board offers a large variety of sports activities for youth, adults and senior citizens. Facilities include a tennis complex, soccer facility, ice park, aquatics center, skatepark, and several community centers.
Area Schools and Universities
Springfield is home to a number of schools, colleges and universities including Missouri State University and Ozarks Technical Community College.
