Mission Statement: The mission of Pershing Middle School is to demonstrate high standards of learning and expectations of all students to achieve.
School Profile:
- Pershing Middle School is proud to be a Missouri Top 10 performing school in seventh-grade mathematics and eighth-grade communication arts.
- We have enrollment of 664 middle school students. In 2008-2009: 282 students participated in sports; 195 participated in school band; 141 participated in school orchestra (selected to perform at the Missouri Music Conference); 67 eighth-grade students participated in choral music; and 42 students participated in extracurricular activities like math counts and science olympiad.
- In 2008-2009, 62 seventh- and eighth-grade students participated in National Junior Honor Society; 22 eighth-grade students received the President’s Academic Award.
- In 2008, 100 percent of classes were taught by highly qualified teachers. Our staff averages 14.2 years of professional service and more than 60.4 percent of our professional staff has one or more advanced degrees.
- About 94 percent of our parents participate in parent-teacher conferences; our middle school PTSA generously donates time and resources to help assure our students’ academic success.
- Pershing Elementary School (K-5) and Pershing Middle School (grades 6-8) are located in the same building.
