Mission Statement: The mission of Truman Elementary School is to promote student achievement and academic success.
School Profile:
- We are a neighborhood school where students, parents and teachers know one another by name. With an enrollment of about 315, our school makes students feel safe and supported.
- Parent involvement and community pride are evident at our school. Our PTA encourages parental involvement through many enrichment activities, spirit days, fundraisers and school events. Many parents volunteer in the classrooms of our school. We are lucky to have involved families in the Truman community.
- Truman offers before- and after-school care through the YMCA Prime Time program. We are also a SPARC (Schools, Parks Are Reaching Communities) site. SPARC offers after-school extracurricular activities for students such as martial arts, chess club, floor hockey, cooking club, cheerleading, tennis, golf, basketball, baseball, soccer, mad science and more.
- Our school has consistently met Adequate Yearly Progress in communication arts and math, a measure of academic performance set forth by No Child Left Behind.
- Our community is growing by leaps and bounds. Construction of new homes is happening all around us, and we are thrilled to meet the many new Truman families moving into our community.
