My name is Deana Young and I have been the school counselor at Robberson for the past 14 years! The Echo Grant has allowed me to be at Robberson full-time, and my goal is to always be available as a listening ear and helping hand for both students and parents. I see all of Robberson students in their classrooms every other week, and many of them in my office for activities like friendship lunches and leadership building. Our main counseling focuses at Robberson are on coping, respect, and good choice character. My nickname is the “coping cowgirl” and all students should have “engrained in their brains” that coping means “DEAL WITH IT!” Counseling lessons emphasis that coping means dealing with our feelings in ways that help, not hurt. My office has been called “The Respect Ranch,” and our emphasis at Robberson is that we all work from a base where everyone is treated like “treasure, never trash.” Our current character word that works well with our testing time is “persistent,” and your students should be able to tell you that it means to “never give up.” My office phone is 417-523-1860. Please feel free to call or come by my office if I can ever help you or your child in any way.
