Welcome to the Professional Development page. We strive to offer many opportunities to all staff appropriate to their needs. The items listed on the calendar are those that our staff members have either asked to attend or trainings we felt that were important for the betterment of our students.
If you desire to attend a training function, please follow the guidelines on the request form below.

Webinars
List of Webinars-Click on the link to see what is available at the Special Services Department. Most webinar information is limited to usage by Springfield Public Schools staff due to copyright laws from publishers.
Webinars available to other area districts:
Springfield Public Schools has developed a webinar on Seclusion, Isolation, and Restraint. This webinar was created to satisfy the training of all district staff on the new board policy districts were required to adopt. We feel this webinar is the most efficient way to provide a consistent training message to our employees. This webinar is available for other area districts to utilize with their staff and is generic so it can be used without having to reproduce it for their district.

Once you are on the SPS Staff Development page, click on the Leadership link and then Seclusion, Isolation and Restraint, one of the options available. This will open the webinar for viewing. September and December Staff Training -
We know how important choice learning is to you based on your feedback last fall and we will be offering choice learning in September and December. We have a variety of individuals presenting and some of those presentations will be facilitated by teachers as you requested last fall. You will be able to sign-up for three sessions of your choice. The professional learning time scheduled for September and December will be in the morning for both of our groups from 8:00-11:30. These sessions will be held at South Haven Baptist Church located at 2353 South Campbell across from Westlake Hardware.
- September 23rd was for Elementary & ECSE Special Educators, SLP's, Assessment Team, Motor Staff , School Psychologists and Process Coordinators.
- December 9th will be for 6-12 Certified Special Educators, School Psychologists and Process Coordinators.

Request Forms for Special Education Paid Attendance & Travel Reimbursement Forms
SPED Professional Development Request - New guidelines for reimbursement are shown on new form effective 11/1/2011.
The revised form is set up as a PDF form and will automatically calculate your totals for efficiency.
Please note the change in the mileage rate allowed by the district. This change was effective July 1, 2011.
