Welcome!

Welcome to the new school year! I want your child to have a fun and successful year Kindergarten. Above I have listed the school phone number. Please feel free to contact me if there are situations that need to be discussed.

Arrival/Departure

All students will meet in the cafeteria before school. Breakfast begins at 7:40. Teachers will pick students up from the cafeteria and take them to the classroom. Parents are permitted to walk students to the classroom ON THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL ONLY.

Students will be dismissed outside the kindergarten wing doors. You must meet your child at the doors so teachers can make eye contact and ensure the safety of your child.  If your child needs to go home a different way than normal, you must send a written note or contact the office at 523-3000. Do not rely on your child to tell us this information because children often become confused and relay information incorrectly. If no written note or phone call is received, your child will be sent home by his/her usual method of transportation.

Thursday Folders

We send all school news by way of your child. Be positive and value the work your child has done at school. Your child will have a Thursday Folder. Once a week we will send home schoolwork, a weekly newsletter, and your child’s behavior chart. Folders are to be returned on Fridays cleaned and organized.

Discipline

Classroom norms will be decided on by students during the beginning of the year. Behavior will be monitored on a daily basis by the use of a colored card system. Students will begin everyday on a green card. If students are having difficulty following classroom norms, they will be asked to “flip” a card.

Green: Students are using their manners and following classroom norms.

Yellow: Oops! Free warning and a reminder to get back on track.

Red: Students will lose five minutes of their recess.

Blue: Student will lose all recess and a note will be sent home. If a student is on blue repeatedly a conference may be called.

Snack Calendar

At the beginning of every month a snack calendar will be sent home. The calendar will show when your child is scheduled to bring a healthy snack and a gallon of milk. Snacks and milk need to be store bought and sealed. No homemade snacks are allowed. If you are able to donate paper cups, napkins, or papers plates, it would be greatly appreciated.
